Civil Engineer · Incoming MSc, TU Darmstadt
Sayeema Sobhan Simi
Civil engineer focused on sustainable, climate-resilient infrastructure — where structural and geotechnical engineering meets environmental and water systems.
About
Building infrastructure that respects its environment
I'm a civil engineer from Dhaka with a focus on sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure. My interest began in an undergraduate environmental lab — analysing water from Dhaka's Hatirjheel lake — where I saw first-hand how engineering decisions shape environmental quality and urban resilience.
Since then I've worked across environmental consulting (ACE Consultants / SMEC), water-and-sanitation research (ITN-BUET, with UNICEF & DPHE), and civil engineering practice — with a consistent thread: infrastructure that is technically sound and environmentally responsible. In 2026 I begin my M.Sc. in Civil Engineering at TU Darmstadt to deepen my expertise in geotechnical, structural and water systems.
Experience
Where I've worked
- Developed proposals for environmental consulting projects focused on sustainable resource management and climate resilience.
- Helped secure eco-friendly projects in renewable-energy integration, resource optimization, and cross-border collaboration.
- Contributed to engineering solutions spanning renewable energy and pollution control; represented the team at environmental conferences.
- Developed research materials for UNICEF–DPHE collaborations on water and sanitation.
- Coordinated with partner organisations (DPHE, WaterAid, BRAC, iDE, MAB) on environmental solutions.
- Produced capacity-building and research outputs on water systems and climate change.
- Worked with clients to align project requirements with sustainability goals.
- Prepared progress reports on water management, climate impacts, and sustainable solutions.
